Arkansas Arbor Day
“Arkansas Arbor Day is celebrated every year on the 3rd Monday in March. This is the perfect time to celebrate all the wonderful things trees do for us, plant trees, and encourage others in your community to plant and conserve trees. The Arbor Day Foundation has a Learning Hub with lots of suggested activities and lesson plans to learn about trees.
Here are some other fun ways to celebrate Arkansas Arbor Day:
- Plant trees.
- Organize a community or neighborhood Arbor Day celebration.
- Go for a hike or take a walk among trees.
- Grab a tree book or key and practice identifying trees.
- Organize a tree-related scavenger hunt. Can you find a heart-shaped leaf or a hickory nut?
- Have a picnic under a tree.
- Go hammocking. Tie a hammock to 2 trees and read or relax.
- Draw or paint a tree or do a tree themed craft.
- Write a poem or story about trees.
- Practice the Japanese art of ‘forest bathing’. Walk slowly among trees savoring the sounds, smells and sights of nature. “
