Tough Trees for Tough Sites
Tree selection in urban environments is complex. Urban soils are often dramatically altered by soil removal, replacement, and compaction making the survival of newly planted trees difficult. In addition, trees in urban areas may be subjected to extreme heat, drought, periodic flooding, and pollution. This one-hour virtual presentation will highlight some trees that are known to tolerate difficult urban conditions and discuss ways to improve tree survival in these tough conditions.
